A Place Called Sleepy Hollow

  • Officially Licensed Sleepy Hollow T-Shirt
  • Artwork by Kyle Crawford
  • Printed on our super soft 4.5oz 100% pre-shrunk ringspun cotton shirts

  • About Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999) reimagined Washington Irving's classic tale as a Gothic murder mystery, with Johnny Depp's squeamish Ichabod Crane reinvented as a forensic investigator sent from New York City to a remote Dutch village plagued by a headless horseman. The film's production design by Rick Heinrichs won the Academy Award for Best Art Direction, creating a perpetually autumnal, fog-shrouded village that looks like it exists inside a Hammer Horror film brought to vivid, expensive life. Christopher Walken's brief but terrifying appearance as the Hessian Horseman before his decapitation—with filed teeth and wild eyes—required minimal dialogue to create an unforgettable villain. Burton assembled a remarkable cast including Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, and Christopher Lee, and the film's combination of period detail, Grand Guignol violence, and dark fairy tale atmosphere has made it a perennial Halloween favorite.
